About Brian Friel The Dramatist
Brian Friel was a Tony Award winning and (still is) a much celebrated dramatist who was born in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Living both sides of the Irish border at one time or another, Friel’s plays were shown in Dublin, on Broadway, London’s West End and as far as St Petersburg in Russia. His plays, such as Philadelphia, Here I Come!, The Freedom of The City, Translations and Dancing at Lughnasa earned him the description of being “the universally accented voice of Ireland ”.
