Níos tapúla, níos tapúla! A scene from the first day of the Galway races, before the wheels come off, people start fighting and hats and fascinators are lost and get trampled on.
All joking aside, the Galway Races Summer Festival is one of the most loved events in Ireland. People come from all over the world to watch the spectacular horses and their jockeys and to enjoy a festival that has grown in every way since it began more than 100 years ago.
As an illustrator, I love the Summer Festival as it’s packed full of brilliant characters, colour, moments of wild humour, and a frenzy of fascinators. If you’re Galway bound for the Galway Races, you’ll have a ball!
